How Can I Learn a Song Using Drumless Songs for Reference?

Learning songs is tough on beginner musicians. In fact, it can be just plain disheartening. You see all of your fellow musicians learning songs seemingly with ease, and yet you sit down to learn a song and find yourself stuck within the first few bars of it. So do your friends just have magical drum prowess, or are they cheating? You’d be surprised that the answer is neither; they probably practice the song like you do, only smarter.

Using drum play along songs to learn a drum track to a song is perfect for those who find it confusing, with all the noise of the track, to try and keep along to what the recorded drummer is going. In some cases, it can even dampen your ability as a player to try and learn this way. So save yourself the trouble and do what the smart players do; use drumless songs to learn your drum tracks.

You can find drumless songs pretty easily on Ultimate Guitar, using either Power Tab software or Guitar Pro (you will have to mute the drums on the track, but that is as easy as click the mouse). The best part about using these is that while you may be muting the track, you can also see the sheet music of it (provided you can read it) and the tablature, allowing you to read the notes and easily play along to nearly any song that you want to. In no time you will have a full repertoire of songs!
